Dr. Prabhu (“Bhu”) Velan, Treasurer of IIC, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Washington University in St. Louis with dual degrees in Finance and Biology. He pursued medicine at Rush Medical College and specialized in diagnostic radiology at Rush Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Bhu has been a practicing diagnostic radiologist in the Advocate Health System for over 10-years. As the Physician Informatics Lead for the Advocate Health System, he evaluates innovative technologies and works closely with the Advocate Leadership Team to bring operational improvements to medical imaging. Through these leadership positions, Bhu continues to help shape the future of health care delivery.

Bhu is an avid tennis player, meticulous painter, and shares his passion for reading and gaming with his wife and three children. Towing his Airstream on adventures around the country is a highlight of every year. A 30-year relationship with health care investing and witnessing the corporatization of health care has allowed Bhu to incorporate insights and refine strategy within IIC. Most importantly, he believes that investing in relationships is a critical component to success at any level.
